In September 2023, ALIAS released their latest album ALIAS LIVE. An accumulation of live performances spanning three years, it features works historic works by Piazolla and Shostakovich alongside living composers Valerie Coleman, Kevin Day and Amanda Harberg.

Invierno Porteno
Debuted on June 30th
Recorded at W.O. Smith School, this captivating tango piece by Astor Piazzolla was heavily influenced by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. It features two of our ALIAS Ensemble members, Sari Reist, cello and Alessandra Volpi, piano, as well as a guest musician, Christina McGann, violin.

Glory! Oh My Soul!

Glory! Oh My Soul! by Colin Lett (written for high voice, piano, and strings) was recorded live at the world premiere performance by musicians of ALIAS on November 1, 2022 in Nashville. The performers were Alysha Hinton, soprano; Melissa Rose, piano; Louise Morrison and Alison Gooding Hoffman, violin; Anthony Parce, viola; Nicholas Gold, cello.
Colin Lett is a minister, choral conductor, and composer. His arrangements are published in the African American Church Music Series of GIA Publications, Inc.
The piece comprises a newly composed verse in a medley of Negro Spirituals “Oh Glory” and “I Got a New Name”. Mr. Lett composed this piece in the aftermath of his mother’s death.
