Emerging Voices: Women Composers Past and Present

For centuries, women were marginalized in the music world, a result of prejudice and lack of education. Today, we regularly perform music by modern female composers, whose voices are emerging from the previously male-dominated field. Just as important, though, are the works of female composers from centuries past, whose voices are just now emerging from the history of Western music. ALIAS spotlights some of these women composers in its new two-year series.
