2007-2008 Nonprofit Partners

ALIAS gives back to the community by donating concert proceeds to its nonprofit partners. This season we are pleased to be working with the following nonprofit organizations operating in the Nashville area.

Nashville Adult Literacy Council The Nashville Adult Literacy Council (NALC) is a nonprofit organization that teaches reading to U.S.-born adults and English skills to adult immigrants. Our vision is for all to learn and for all to help build a community of adults empowered through literacy. We are the non-profit arm of the Nashville Volunteer Literacy Program, a Community Education Alliance program. NALC has received eight national awards and two regional awards for outstanding program, staff dedication and student achievement over the past few years. However, it is the efforts of the volunteer tutors that provide the backbone of the program.

Oasis Center W.O. Smith Community Music School Oasis Center's mission is to help youth grow, thrive and create positive change in their lives and in our community. Oasis offers a full spectrum of opportunities for youth, from crisis to leadership, including counseling for youth and families, emergency shelter, youth empowerment groups, and youth leadership and action opportunities.

The W.O. Smith/Nashville Community Music School, founded in 1984, is a nonprofit educational institution created for the purpose of making quality music instruction available to talented, interested, deserving children from low income families at the nominal fee of 50 cents a lesson. The school also seeks to encourage student participation in the cultural life of the community through concert attendance and performance.
