A note from Zeneba…
I am writing today to let you know that I have decided to retire from my position as Artistic Director of ALIAS.
While this move may come as a bit of a surprise, it is something I have been thinking about for a long time. I am looking forward to having more time to rest, to read, to think, and of course, to travel!
ALIAS has been my heart and soul for the last 16 years and will continue to be so, as I fold into the ensemble as a core performer. The ALIAS Board has also chosen to name me Artistic Director Emerita – an honor that I am proud and happy to accept. I know that this new chapter in the growth of ALIAS will bring exciting opportunities for our fantastic leadersip team and musicians to further the ensemble’s mission and reach new goals.
It has been my honor and privilege to stand at the helm of this ensemble for the past 16 years. I look forward to performing with ALIAS for years to come, and hope to see you all at our upcoming concerts and events!
Alicia Enstrom announced as Artistic Director of ALIAS
The Board and musicians of ALIAS are thrilled to announce that violinist Alicia Enstrom has been named Artistic Director of ALIAS Chamber Ensemble. Enstrom, a gifted and innovative musician, has been a guest artist with ALIAS and an integral part of our ALIAS in the Community outreach programming for the past two years.
Alicia Enstrom toured the world for nearly ten years as the solo violinist/electric violinist for two Cirque du Soleil’s shows and was the lead violinist/fiddler, vocalist, pianist, and dancer with the International Violin Show, Barrage. In addition, she was invited on fellowship to the Tanglewood Music Center and served as concertmaster for both a chamber and a conductorless orchestra concert. In 2015, Alicia released her first album, The Monster Speaks. She is currently releasing monthly, A monstEr ROARS, her new music collection with art visuals, collaborating with artists from around the globe. She performs this material solo via looping pedals, and sometimes on a hoop. In Nashville, Alicia is privileged to play with various entities for commercial recordings. She subs with the Nashville Symphony, performs with Intersection and Chatterbird, and also with the Chris Walters Jazz Quintet. Alicia, a magna cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt, is originally from Kansas.
