2012-2013 Concert Schedule
FALL CONCERT: Tuesday, October 30, 2012
WINTER CONCERT: Saturday, February 16, 2013
SPRING CONCERT: Saturday, May 18, 2013

The Grammy-nominated ALIAS Chamber Ensemble has lined up its upcoming season with programming that will delight new audiences, while delivering to long-time ALIAS fans the kind of eclectic and innovative performances they’ve come to expect.

ALIAS will perform with the Nashville Opera, David Lang’s “The Difficulty of Crossing a Field” Nov. 9-11, 2012 at The Noah Liff Opera Center.

Included on the concerts are past masters such as Pandolfi, Britten, and Brahms; and well-known living composers such as Schickele, Cowell, Danielpour, Zorn, Daugherty, and more. Also, for the first time, works composed by two ALIAS musicians will appear on the same program: The Spring Concert (May 18, 2013) will feature compositions by cellist Matt Walker and violist Chris Farrell, both ALIAS veterans. These two works will be two of three World Premieres on the season’s programs; the third is a work by John Marvin commissioned by ALIAS and written for oboist Roger Wiesmeyer.

The season also boasts the ensemble’s second CD release, chamber music of Kenji Bunch. The disc will be released on the Delos record label on September 25, and the release party will take place on that date at the CMA Headquarters on Nashville’s Music Row. ALIAS fans are familiar with Bunch’s music – and new listeners will love the new recording.

And yet another exciting collaboration for the upcoming season: ALIAS teams up with the Nashville Opera for a series of performances of “The Difficulty of Crossing a Field” by David Lang, November 9-11. More information is available at the Opera’s site by clicking here.
