We are proud to release a video companion to Hilos, the piece written Gabriela Lena Frank and the centerpiece of ALIAS’ GLF Project. It includes members of ALIAS and Frank playing selections from Hilos in advance of the world premiere on Oct. 1, 2010. ALIAS launches Mestiza Music in Music City

In conjunction with The GLF Project, ALIAS is launching Mestiza Music in Music City, a residency program in one of Nashville’s most culturally diverse neighborhoods, featuring educational and community outreach to families and school children. Made possible by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission, MMMC will include a series of events at area schools. Details inside…

Artist Spotlight: D.J. Sparr, Composer and Guest Artist

Composer and musician D.J. Sparr will make his debut with ALIAS Chamber Ensemble on Oct. 1 with “Vim Hocket, Calm” for electric guitar and amplified violin. ALIAS Marketing Chair Laura Alabed visited with D.J. recently to gain insights into the composer and his music.
