New ALIAS, Blair School of Music partnership

In January 2010, ALIAS Chamber Ensemble was named a Professional Performance Partner of Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music. Under the terms of the partnership, ALIAS will continue to perform at Blair three times each season. In addition, Blair students will enjoy myriad new opportunities — including free tickets to all ALIAS performances — which will be determined and announced in the coming months…

Winter Concert – Feb. 11, 2010

In February 2010, ALIAS continues its series Emerging Voices, focusing on the work of women composers, presenting works by three very diverse women: Deborah Kavasch, Bianca Maria Meda and Belinda Reynolds. The concert also features two unusual string quartets. The first, by Anton Arensky, is scored for two celli, rather than the traditional two violins. The second, American Dreams, is a serious work by composer Peter Schickele, more popularly known as P.D.Q. Bach….

On behalf of the Board of Directors and musicians of ALIAS, welcome to the 2009-10 season. It is our eighth season as an ensemble, and it is an exciting one, brimming with innovative new works (Jason Sagebiel’s An Unlikely Suspect, a world premiere of Paul Moravec’s Always, Always, and Gabriela Lena Frank’s Danza de los Saqsampillos), as well as a selection of seldom performed pieces that you won’t want to miss…
